What Is a Fiberglass Pool?
A fiberglass pool is a pre-manufactured shell produced in a factory. The shell is made from layers of fiberglass and resin molded into a specific shape and size. It's transported to your home on a truck and lowered into an excavated hole with a crane.
Fiberglass pools come in a fixed set of shapes and sizes determined by the manufacturer. You choose from their catalog and the shell arrives ready to install. There is no on-site customization of shape or depth — what the factory produces is what goes in your backyard.

Gunite — complete design freedom. Any shape, any depth, any combination of features. Freeform, geometric, infinity edge, zero entry, attached spa, tanning ledge, swim-up bar — all possible because the pool is built to your specifications on-site. If your backyard has an unusual shape, a slope, or specific constraints, gunite accommodates it.
Fiberglass — limited to the manufacturer's catalog. Most companies offer 30 to 50 models in various sizes. You pick the one that best fits your yard, but you can't modify the shape or depth. If your backyard is an unusual size or layout, you may not find a shell that fits properly.

Excavation, shell placement, backfill, plumbing, and equipment are faster because the shell itself is already manufactured.
